The Casino Zollverein restaurant combines modern cuisine with traditional regional influences and continuously expands its repertoire, which also varies according to season. In fine weather, guests can sit outside or have a snack in the summer garden while enjoying the sun. Every Sunday, the team of Casino Zollverein pampers its guests with probably the best brunch in Essen! For larger events, the former Turbine Hall on the first floor can accommodate up to 1,200 people.

Whether before an event or after a guided tour: Guests will find drinks, a BBQ inspired menu, fries and daily changing lunch specials. 100 guests can easily be seated inside, additional bar-height bistro tables are available. Historical photographs taken from the archive of the Ruhr Museum create a unique mining-atmosphere. Outside another 120 guests can be seated. In addition to the daily opening hours the restaurant is available for private or semi-private dining on occasions such as weddings, birthday parties or any another event.

Design furniture and retro pieces midst thick concrete walls and high steel beams – the winding engine house on Shaft XII has been transformed into a modern restaurant called The Mine. Guests enjoy the unique atmosphere between the famous double shafthead frame and the orange escalator that leads into the coal washing plant since autumn 2019.

At lunch time seasonal dishes are served.  Mediterranean food is available for dinner along with steak and burger. On Sundays and public holidays the place offers a brunch buffet between 10 am and 2 pm. The restaurant has a seating capacity for 80 people on the ground floor. There are additionally 130 seats available outside, if the weather condition allows.

The Mine creates an ideal atmosphere for weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, conferences or banquets. Furthermore an event location can be found on the first floor.

During the four days of the Gourmetmeile Metropole Ruhr on the former Track Boulevard at Zollverein Shaft XII, top regional restaurateurs present their culinary skills. Lovers of regional miner’s cuisine also get their money’s worth: At least one typical miner’s dish is served at each stand. In addition to culinary temptations, a stage programme and a firework display on Saturday evening await guests and gourmets from across the region.

Here you can find modern design combined made in „Ruhrpott“ as well as young art and grandma’s lampshade. The design hotel with a large outdoor terrace, run by the “friends group”, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Folkwang University of the Arts.
