The heritage
of mankind

The cultural heart
of the Ruhr Area

Dear visitors,

museums and exhibitions at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein have reopened for visitors after a two month lockdown to slow the coronavirus outbreak. This includes Ruhr Museum, Red Dot Design Museum, the Portal of Industrial Heritage and the exhibition "SURVIVORS - Faces of Life after the Holocaust". However, many concerts and events had to be cancelled and guided tours are currently available in German language only and with a limited number of participants.

Furthermore all restaurants are open for guests or offer alternative services like take-away.

Zollverein-Park is open and accessible and you are welcome to go for a walk here if you do comply with the present laws (Corona Protection Ordinance NRW) concerning meeting other people.

Please follow the advice of the public health authorities and contribute to flatten the curve. We are looking forward to resume to normality and welcome guests to the most beautiful mine in the world in the near future.

Amazement allowed: a unique place for experiences

Every day, the diverse offerings on the 100-hectare grounds invite visitors to experience the world of coal, coke, art, and culture in the heart of the Ruhr Area.
