Against the background of the new regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for containing the Corona pandemic, the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site will remain closed as a place of culture and leisure during the whole month of November. This refers to the Ruhr Museum in the Coal Washery as well as to its branches, to the RUHR.VISITORCENTER and to the Red Dot Design Museum. Also the guided tours at the Zollverein Coal Mine and Cokery are cancelled.
The following cultural events are also affected by the closure: The NOW Festival on 6th November, the colloquium about the topic of forced labour in the Ruhr mining industry with the unveiling of a memorial plaque on 8th November, the Next Level Festival for Games from 13th until 15th November as well as the opening of the exhibition with photographies of Diether Münzberg on 20th November 2020. Also the lecture events of the Ruhr Museum on the occasion of the exhibition „100 years of Ruhr Area. The different metropolis.“ will not take place.
Due to the present rules and regulations in order to combat the corona pandemic the Ice rink 2020/2021 had to be cancelled. Zollverein foundation regrets the cancellation of the ice rink, that was supposed to take place from December 5th to January 10. Tickets that have been booked previously will be refunded. All gastronomic businesses at the site will stay closed during the month of November, some offer take-away.
In the course of the following month, the Zollverein Foundation will decide, which of the events planned for December 2020 can take place under the given circumstances.
The open spaces of the World Heritage Site as well as the Zollverein Park will remain accessible also in November. All guests are asked to comply with the valid hygiene and distance rules.
Return and reimbursement of already procured tickets
If the tickets have been purchased via the common online portals or via the ticket shop of the Zollverein Foundation, the ticket provider ADticket will contact the clients and inform them about the further procedure of reimbursement. Should they have been bought from one of the ticket offices at an event of the Zollverein Foundation, you can contact us for a refunding by an e-mail to email@example.com. Further information about entrance cards, which have been acquired from an advance booking office, will be provided by the corresponding offices.
Zollverein guided tours
Already purchased tickets for guided tours can be exchanged into vouchers, or the costs can be reimbursed. The Zollverein visitor service will provide information about this under firstname.lastname@example.org.
